About the Teacher:

     My name is Kasey McDonald and this will be my third year teaching 3rd grade. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2015 with a Masters in Teaching and a concentration in Early and Elementary Education. 

​

    I grew up in Glen Allen and have gone to Henrico County Schools my whole life. I started at Longan Elementary, then moved on to Short Pump Middle School and Hungary Creek Middle School, and finally graduated from Tucker High School.

About 3rd Grade:

       Third grade is a big transition year for students. They are learning things they have not yet been exposed to, such as SOL testing and writing down homework in their agenda, and the amount of self regulation increases, such as independently reading a To-Do list and following those directions without teacher prompt, and completing work on time in daily independent stations.

 

     With sufficient teacher-modeling during the first months of school, all students have the ability to succeed with these new expectations.
